Thistle 1.1.0.2 released (here)
Dec 15
About this post: Another showstopping bug has been found in Thistle 1.1.0.1 and fixed in Thistle 1.1.0.2, which has been released, and is immediately available for download from this very site. The update will show up at WordPress.org shortly (provided Automattic is quick enough!). Read the full post for download links and the changelog.
EDIT [12/22]: Thistle is now available at WordPress.org.
Oh no! Another major bug (and another little bug) has been found in Thistle 1.1.0.1, almost 24 hours after uploading it. Because it breaks the theme’s XHTML like crazy (invalidating the code in the process), I have fixed just that bug (and the little bug too) and packaged it in Thistle 1.1.0.2. That means another brown-paper-bag release (it got such a name for a reason!).
However, Thistle 1.1.0.1 hasn’t yet been approved either. So it looks like I’ll just have to reupload and wait even longer before the new Thistle 1.1 appears on WordPress.org.
I’m really sorry for all this trouble, and causing those who truly enjoy my theme (and not the sploggers) to have to wait before their blogs can harness threaded commenting. To make up for this nasty mess, I will be releasing Thistle 1.1.0.2 immediately — yes, right here at NOVALISTIC. The update will be reflected at WordPress.org… ASAP, I hope.
By the way, Thistle 1.1 should still work with WordPress 2.6 and older. I’ve not had the resources to test the theme in such installs though; if you find that it doesn’t work, please let me know via the comments here. Only WordPress 2.2 and above is supported.
You can also obtain the archives for Thistle 1.1.0 and 1.1.0.1 at Thistle’s page.
View the changelog (changes from after Thistle 1.0.2 onward) after the post jump (because it’s pretty long!).
Changelog (Thistle 1.1.0.2)
- Double brown-paper-bag release — d’oh!
- Fixed a big misplacement of a certain XHTML tag in comments.php that breaks the entire theme in the event there are no comments for a post.
- Removed extraneous padding from sidebar blogrolls.
Changelog (Thistle 1.1.0.1)
- Brown-paper-bag release.
- Stylesheet now caters to WordPress 2.7’s
post_class()CSS classes for aside posts. - Removed WordPress smiley image borders.
- Cleared some misbehaving floats.
- Theme screenshot updated again for Thistle 1.1.0.1.
Changelog (Thistle 1.1.0)
- Comments have been rewritten to enable threading, a new feature introduced in WordPress 2.7.
- Some CSS rounded corners have been added; however, these are only visible by Gecko and WebKit browsers (e.g. Firefox, Camino, Safari, Google Chrome) but Thistle’s CSS remains tentatively valid.
- Unordered lists are now bulleted with different kinds of leaves instead of discs, circles and squares (unless images are disabled, that is).
- Fixed the issue whereby the blog title gets nudged down when the tabbed navigation goes beyond half of the layout. Disappearing navigation (only seen in Thistle 1.0.0) does not regress!
- Various minor bug fixes and style improvements.
- Theme tags now comply with WordPress.org requirements.
- Theme screenshot updated for Thistle 1.1.
- Theme functions no longer contain the
nv_prefix. - The theme’s PHP code further complies with WordPress’s coding standards.
