Project Icon winner: Ben D.
Nov 18
About this post: Ben Dunkle is the winner and Verena Segert the runner-up of WordPress 2.7 Project Icon! Their icon sets are beautiful, and you should take a look at the results put up. Congrats to the designers!
The results of Project Icon have been released! Project Icon was a little icon design competition held by the WordPress developers for WordPress 2.7’s new menu interface.
Ben Dunkle won and Verena Segert was runner-up in Project Icon, and I extend my congratulations to them for having done such a wonderful job in such a tight schedule (a week, correct me if I’m wrong)!
By the way:
So, to sum up:
- The winning icon sets by Ben Dunkle and Verena Segert will be incorporated into WordPress 2.7 RC1.
- Someone should write a plugin that would allow anyone to upload a custom icon set (I bet the other contestants could be convinced to release their icon sets for such a purpose).
- 2.7 is still trucking away, but we can always use help with patches, especially for IE6! (I know, that wasn’t in the main post, but it’s true, so hmph)
That thing about a plugin is an answer to one of my aside prayers! I wanted to ask on #wordpress-dev (IRC link) if it were possible to do that, but I didn’t say a word.
I’m guessing that a plugin will most definitely be rolled out soon to bring about just that functionality. Perhaps a Tango icon set for WordPress 2.7 might appear. That’d be awesome!
