About this post: A Google Chrome easter egg has been found, and I got a good laugh after checking it out myself… hint: Windows XP only.
Well now, looky here, a Google Chrome easter egg! I didn’t find this on my own, however, since it was discovered rather long ago…
Type about:internets into the Omnibox and see for yourself! Here’s a hint: it only works on Windows XP.

Yes, this is why it only works on Windows XP: because the 3D Pipes screensaver does not exist on Windows Vista, and Mac OS X and GNU/Linux don’t have that either.
If you try this egg in Chrome on Windows Vista, you only get a blank screen, while Google complains in the tab’s title, “The Tubes are Clogged!”
I renamed the screensaver file and observed:
about:internets on a 3D Pipes-less computer
They even have source files dedicated to this egg: about_internets_status_view.h and about_internets_status_view.cc.
I bet this is another of the myriad compelling reasons why they’re going to take some time to port Google Chrome to non-Windows systems
