Apparently the spam is continuing. It’s either because JavaScript was used to insert reCAPTCHA, or the spambots actually managed to defeat reCAPTCHA which is nearly impossible. There hasn’t been any bandwidth surges either.
Anyway, I’ve closed commenting on one post because one spammer has been leaving over 40 comments on this and Akismet has been catching the spam over and over and over and over again. That’s stupid and I’m getting tired of it.
And to prevent ping spam I’ve closed trackbacks too. I’m not stupid.
I’ll have to figure out how the spammer managed to evade reCAPTCHA despite it already being there. It’s either a CSRF or something. Whatever it is, it doesn’t look good.
Now that I’ve closed commenting on that post, I’ll continue to watch my spam count to see if reCAPTCHA really is working.
